The use of wastewater as a source of information on the overall health status of a community has significantly increased following the Covid-19 health crisis. This method now extends to the monitoring of other pathogens, such as the influenza virus. Wastewater surveillance has become a relevant and complementary approach to traditional surveillance, aiding in tracking known pathogens and detecting potential new ones.

The main objective of this website is to present, through a user-friendly dashboard, the data collected and analysed from Luxembourg’s wastewater treatment plants and environmental water sources. This aims to facilitate the seamless sharing of wastewater monitoring data at both national and European levels. The establishment of long-term active surveillance of Luxembourg's wastewater for viral pathogens through this digital platform will ensure relevant, up-to-date, and reliable communication with the public, press and health authorities.

This initiative is funded by the Fond de la Gestion de l’Eau and the Direction de la Santé du Luxembourg.
